Postwar Era Gem

The innovative Tucker incorporated features that were advanced for the immediate postwar era, such as a pop-out windshield, a central headlight that turned with the front wheels, and a rear-mounted flat-six engine. Preston Tucker built a prototype and 50 additional cars in 1947-48, but his inability to supply dealers on time led to his indictment on fraud. He was acquitted, but a lack of public confidence ended the endeavor. Francis Ford Coppola told the story in his 1988 film Tucker: The Man and His Dream.
