To be fair, everyone plans on staying stock at first…

This Chevrolet 3100’s transformation into “Codos 53” began as a simple restoration project for Salvador Ledezma and his son. The goal was to refurbish the vehicle as a stock truck, but as the pair attended lowrider car shows, they would get ideas for modifications and would update the truck accordingly. They started work on the restoration in May 2015, and by September of the following year, it was appearing at its first lowrider show, achieving 3rd place in its category. From then on, the Ledezmas would add something to the car every year for show season.

“Codos 53” has competed in car shows throughout the West Coast, racking up a couple hundred trophies. It achieved Best of Show 2nd place at Lowrider magazine’s Super Show in 2019, and with further upgrades, won Best of Show Bomb Truck in 2021 and 2022. The truck was also shared with museum-goers in 2023 when It was featured in an exhibition on cars and culture at the Petaluma Arts Center in Sonoma County, California.
