021C — Originally Pantone Orange
Named Best Concept Car at the 1999 Tokyo Motor Show where it debuted, the 021C was conceived to be “simple, likable, and fun” by industrial designer Marc Newson. The 021C has many forward-looking features, including a retractable trunk that opens like a drawer and a single horizontal headlight and rear light that are powered with LEDs, which had never before been used in automotive design. The interior is meant to give a feeling of spaciousness in a small car, with swivel seats and a floating instrument panel that is entirely adjustable.
