In 1966 Shelby experimented with the addition of Paxton superchargers to some of its GT350s, ultimately producing 11 examples and then offering the supercharger as an optional package to buyers. The original purchaser of this vehicle, Dr. Robert Mowrey of Los Altos, opted for the supercharger, boosting the output of the high-revving 289-cubic-inch V-8 engine to an impressive 440 hp. Not every one of the supercharged Mustangs survived its inevitable hard life on the racing circuit, but this one, bearing the serial number 6S880, became part of the Museum’s collection in 2022.
