The Spexter

In 1987 Clyde Kwok, a Montreal-based Porsche collector and then-owner of Wingho Auto, a tuning, sales, and service shop, approached car designer Paul Deutschman of Spex Design to commision a one-off Porsche custom. Kwok’s idea was to create modern interpretation of one of his beloved classic 356 Speedsters. Deutschman used a 911 Targa as a base and built the body using a custom-sculpted Kevlar and fiberglass composite. The two-seat “Spexter” took nine months to create and foreshadowed Porsche’s introduction of its own modern roadster, the Boxster, in 1996.
