Ayrton Senna’s Lotus
The 1987 Lotus 99T was the first Lotus F1 car to be powered by a Honda engine. Though based on the platform of Lotus’ 98T, the 99T included technological innovations like active suspension, in which electronic systems make continual adjustments, reducing wear on the tires and improving the car’s stability while cornering. Piloted by notable F1 driver Ayrton Senna with co-driver Satoru Nakajima, the 99T became one of Lotus’ most successful cars, scoring the F1 team’s last victory before it was disbanded in 1994.
