Viva la Vida de Las Vegas

Joe Ray purchased his first lowrider in 1974 and joined Lifestyle Car Club shortly thereafter. He has had several award-winning cars, including “Dressed to Kill” and “Hollywood”—an earlier iteration of this Lincoln Continental.

The car has undergone four distinct transformations: “Wild Cherry” became “Pink Floyd,” which was updated to “Hollywood” and then to its current look in the 1990s. Multiple versions of the vehicle graced the cover of Lowrider magazine, where Ray later served as editor-in-chief for more than a decade. As “Las Vegas,” it won Lowrider’s Lowrider of the Year title in 1994 and 1995. “Las Vegas” fully embraces its Vegas motif; the casino-themed interior features a roulette wheel tire cover, playing card-shaped swivel seats, a craps table inside the bottom-hinged door, and a game table dashboard. Even today, the interior remains one of the most elaborate ever installed in a lowrider.
