Drawing on the model’s high regard in the JDM community, filmmakers cast a Nissan GT-R as Brian O’Conner’s (Paul Walker) first vehicle in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Production customized the model with bold graphics, blue neon underglow, and a “NOS” system, dramatizing styles popular among JDM tuners of the early 2000s. This example was one of four GT-Rs imported new from Japan for 2 Fast 2 Furious and was used to film the jump scene of the first four-way street race. It was later used as a second hero car after the principal car was accidentally damaged during a take. Its original RB26DETT engine can produce up to 280 horsepower. The Nissan GT-R was introduced in the first four-way street race of 2 Fast 2 Furious. Its bold graphics and sleek silhouette would be referenced in the later vehicles Brian drove throughout the Fast Saga, providing continuity to his character as the Fast family travels around the world.
