Our Promise: Real People Make the Calls

At The Petersen, we use AI as an assistant, not a gatekeeper. We lean on technology to handle scheduling and help us sort through applications, but we never use AI to select who we interview. A human being is at the center of every step of our recruiting process, and real people make 100% of our hiring decisions.

frequently asked questions

We respect your time and try our best to keep our process efficient. Typically, we start with an initial screening. If there's a mutual fit, that leads to deeper conversations or an interview at our office. We aim to limit the process to a maximum of 3 interview rounds. However, there are some unique circumstances that may be outside of this expectation.

We often have many candidates to interview and cannot give everyone feedback; however, if you have been invited to our offices and made it to the final stages, you will be offered a 15 minute call to go over feedback upon request.

After each conversation, our team syncs up to review. You can expect an update from us within a few business days regarding whether we will be moving forward to the next step, or if we’ve decided to go in a different direction for this specific role. If there is a delay you will be notified and provided with clear next steps and timelines.

Yes, when a candidate reaches the final stages prior to an offer we will ask for references, ideally including former direct managers and colleagues. We will always ask for your explicit permission before contacting anyone.

We are genuinely interested in learning about you, how you think, your career stages, your aspirations, your approach to problem-solving, and what motivates you. Come as your true self.

Below are a few tips to help you prepare:

  • Review our mission: Take some time to explore what we do and think about how your unique skills align with our goals.
  • Know the role: Review the job description thoroughly and come ready for an open, engaging conversation about the position and your background.
  • Bring your questions: An interview is a two-way street. We want to ensure this role is the right next step for your career, just as much as you want to ensure we are the right company for you.

On average, our process takes about 2 to 4 weeks from the initial call to a final decision. We do our best to keep things moving swiftly out of respect for your time. If there are any unexpected internal delays, we will proactively reach out to keep you informed. Our hiring team works hard to ensure we remain in close contact with you once interviews have been initiated so you always know what the next steps are.
