WHEN ARTS COLLIDE is a new event concept and mixer that brings together live entertainment and insightful talks to elevate the senses of the burgeoning jazz, soul & dance music communities in Los Angeles. These all ages events invite the audience to share in the convergence of powerful dialogue, world class live music and the beauty and aesthetic of this amazing, remodeled museum. Each event features a dynamic panel and featured performers.

Secrets of the Music Industry – We are digging into the topics, tips and questions that aren’t openly shared to help aspiring creatives and industry professionals further their careers.
Panelists include: Wyann Vaughn, Jae Deal, Mario Prins, and more to be added.
Event will include a live performance by Jae Deal and the Colour Collection along with DJ Mario Prins.
PANELISTS & PERFORMERS
Wyann Vaughn comes from soul music royalty. Daughter of Grammy award winning Wanda Vaughn of the sister group “The Emotions” and Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Let’s Groove” writer Wayne Vaughn, Wyann brings timeless R&B vocals to the stage. As a self-proclaimed “edutainer”, Vaughn also struts her stuff with scholarly confidence as she holds her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and teaches/academically counsels at Pasadena City College’s Ujima Program.
Outside of carrying on the family legacy by touring with her mother and aunt as the third member of The Emotions, Wyann belongs to the newly formed supergroup The Pollyseeds under the direction of Terrace Martin. Vaughn was also hand selected to cohost “The Pharmacy with Dr. Dre” on Apple Music’s Beats1 radio alongside Xzibit, DJ Pooh and others. Stay tuned for more from this promising talent.
Jae Deal is an American composer, arranger, music producer and orchestrator in various genres including pop, gospel, and hip hop. He is also a session keyboardist, programmer, and bassist in Los Angeles, California. Jae Deal has worked behind the scenes and on stage with several premiere artists including Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Diddy, Mary Mary, Karen Clark Sheard, Ne-Yo, Faith Evans, Tye Tribbett, T-Pain, Jessica Simpson and Wynton Marsalis. He has also contributed to the works of Elton John, Jill Scott and songwriter, Diane Warren. Other projects have included performances with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and musical direction for Kirk Franklin’s Youth Ministry at Faithful Central Bible Church.
Thornell Jones, Jr. has been a leader in Entertainment Marketing for over 20 years overseeing marketing and promotion budgets in excess of $20 million annually. Thornell learned the business from the ground floor first as an intern and then as a Financial Analyst for Capitol Records. He launched his career in Marketing with several labels beginning at Mercury, then Giant, Motown, A&M, MJJ Music and Hidden Beach where he generated nearly $60 Million in revenues launching the company along with developing the careers of Kindred the Family Soul, Mike Phillips, BeBe Winans, and Jill Scott. An innovative marketing mind, Jones has furthered the careers of a broad range of artists with household names including Darius Rucker, Tatyana Ali, and Diana Ross. A 15 year voting member of the Recording Academy, he holds 12 Grammy certificates for his marketing with Jill Scott, Ann Nesby, Calvin Richardson, Anthony David, India.Arie, Vikter Duplaix, and most recently, Angie Fisher.
In addition to producing dozens of music videos, in television he was Executive Producer for The Original Jill Scott: A Documentary which aired on the CENTRIC Network. Currently developing a documentary on the multi-generational influence of George Clinton, Jones also helped to develop a new live music television series with NFocus Entertainment, Real Music Live. Jones has also developed Reality TV sizzle reels for Canada’s R&B Juno award winner Divine Brown, and R&B/funk duo Kandy Apple Redd.
As Director of Creative services for SESAC, Mario Prins actively recruits emerging and established songwriters, artists & music publishers. In addition to identifying talent, he is responsible for maintaining a healthy alliance with the existing roster of SESAC clients.
Mario has led the way for signing various songwriters who have co-written songs for Beyoncé, Sia, Justin Bieber, Major Lazor, G-Eazy, Kehlani, Tyrese, Pusha T & more. Being a true advocate for music creators, he prides himself on educating and nurturing the music community on the numerous facets of the business. He’s also a seasoned Dj; an art which he humbly embraced at an early age. Through dj-ing and collecting vinyl, his love and passion for music ripened. Which allowed him to become a student of music history as well as the music business.
Previously, Prins worked with UMPG (Universal Music Publishing Group) in the Film/TV department, where he drafted and issued music licenses to major networks such as CBS, NBC, Fox, etc. Prior to UMPG, Mario was on-air in Los Angeles at iHeartRadio’s 102.7 Kiis FM & served time as Promotion/Event manager at 93.5 KDAY (the world’s first Hip Hop formatted radio station).
