1999 AAR Eagle
997 Champ Car

The Eagle 997 was the last of the factory production Eagles built by Dan Gurney’s All American Racers for Indy car competition. For the 1999 season, Eagle 987 Champ Cars from 1998 were modified by David Bruns and his design team. The resulting Toyota-powered 997 was meant to rectify problems discovered during testing and racing of the 987s. Despite having four different drivers, the 997 saw little success as engine problems plagued the car the entire season, including the season finale at Fontana, AAR’s last start by a factory Eagle in an Indy race.
