An Innovative Formula
Built by Formula 1 designer Gordon Murray, the sophisticated F1 was designed from scratch to be the ultimate supercar. It was equipped with a 550-horsepower BMW V-12 engine and components that made use of carbon fiber, titanium, gold and Kevlar. Its low 2,341-pound weight and impressive 0.32 drag coefficient rating enabled it to reach a top speed of 243 miles per hour. The cockpit featured a center driving position flanked by two passenger seats for improved visibility.
