1977 AAR SCCA Eagle
Formula Ford #48
In 1977, Dan Gurney hired race car driver David Loring to help build and race a new Formula Ford Eagle for All American Racers. This was the first and only “small bore” formula car built by AAR for the entry-level class. Loring won two of twelve races in 1977 and finished second in the SCCA’s Road Atlanta Run-Offs. The following year, he won four of nine races, including the Atlanta Run-Off, which he won by the biggest margin in the race’s history. Unfortunately, this project was short-lived as AAR had decided to focus on Indy car racing.
