Small yet Mighty
Rumi was one of a small number of motor scooter manufacturers to equip their vehicles with two cylinder engines. The Formichino (Italian for “little ant”) debuted in 1954 and was intended to compete in the same market as Vespa and Lambretta. The attractively sculpted aluminum alloy body also served as the frame, which kept weight low while enhancing performance. This rare prototype is equipped with a 150cc test engine and was entirely chrome plated for the show circuit.
