1951 Delahaye

235 Cabriolet

New Postwar Design

Unveiled at the 1951 Paris Auto Salon, the Delahaye Type 235 featured stylish and modern coachwork by Jacques Saoutchik which concealed the vehicle’s aging technology underneath. Far from advanced, the chassis and engine were borrowed from a Type 135MS, a prewar model designed in the 1930s. With few willing to pay the $11,000 price tag, double the cost of the competing Jaguar XK120, Delahaye constructed only 84 examples over the next three years and ceased production of cars by 1954.
