Roadster Hot Rod
Cover Car Clone
This roadster was built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first issue of Hot Rod Magazine, which debuted in January 1948. It was intended to evoke the spirit of the magazine’s first cover car, which was constructed by Regg Schlemmer in 1947 and painted yellow with black flames. Since the Schlemmer car had been dismantled many years prior, this modern interpretation was specially designed to evoke the look and feel of the original car, but with a more contemporary appearance. Applied by Art Himsl, the paint scheme on the anniversary roadster paid tribute to the colors of early Hot Rod Magazine covers.
