Thor Camelback

The Beginning of a Legacy

One of the first motorcycles to be branded an “Indian,” the 1903 model was innovative for its front fork suspension, twist-grip throttle and chain drive. Called the “Camelback” because of the A distinctive curved gas and oil tank mounted on the rear fender, it was powered by a one-cylinder, 2.25-horsepower Thor engine, which was designed into the frame to save weight. The Camelback earned a reputation for reliability and speed, qualities that contributed to its racing success.
