1921 Mercedes 28/95 HP Sport

After suspending production during World War I, Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) resumed production of its Mercedes models with a renewed focus on competitive motorsport. One of the best-performing cars of its day, the 28/95 HP was fitted with a powerful engine initially designed to power World War I–era aircraft. It was distinguished by its extreme durability. Following an impressive second-place finish in the 1921 Targa Florio open-road endurance race, DMG created a small run of roadster versions informally known as the “Targa Florio.” The models could serve as either a race car or a daily driver and marked a transition to more refined post-WWI designs.
