McLaren Automotive just announced that three of their latest vehicles will land in North America for the first time at Pebble Beach next week. This is the eighth year that McLaren will participate in Monterey Car Week, and their announcement is already stirring up a buzz of excitement.
The first vehicle debut will be the McLaren 570 GT, a more comfortable, grand touring sports car, featuring a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft torque. The second is the new 570S GT40, McLaren’s racecar that won at the Snetterton circuit this past weekend as part of the British GT championship.
Besides these, McLaren’s Special Operations team says they will also unveil a “unique project” on Sunday, August 21 on the concepts lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. No details yet as to what this project may look like, but McLaren fans are waiting with bated breath.
In addition, McLaren is bringing several other vehicles from their past to accompany the debut sports cars. Among these will be the 1966 M2B/1, the first McLaren F1 car; a 1975 M23A/9 driven to victory in 1975 by Emerson Fittipaldi; a 1984 MP4-2/2 that won three Drivers’ Championships; and the 1970 M8D/4 Can-Am car.
