Tell Us Your Story:I purchased this car April, 1970, my first new car. I drove it home from Southgate MI to Saginaw MI (approximately 100 miles) in a snow storm. You can imagine how tense I was to drive a brand new car under those conditions. I made it home without any incidents, and it has been part of my life ever since.
I met my wife the next day on April 2, 1970. She was stuck in the snow in her 1968 Camaro, and I got her un-stuck; that was the beginning of our life together. We started dating that summer, and she referred to me as” the guy with “The little blue Pontiac.” Long story short, we got married two years later on Aug. 12th, my 25th birthday, and we took it on our honeymoon to Niagara Falls. The car was actually in the wedding with tissue paper carnations decorating it! We have been together all these years with a lot of history, including having had two car seats in the back safely seating our two baby boys. Our oldest son (at the time he was about 3 years old) called it the “old boo car.” It’s been as far as New York and Los Angeles, and was our daily driver until 1987. For a few years it pulled 2 snowmobiles on a trailer several times each winter. It also made a few trips to the Upper Peninsula (Michigan) where I drove it to deer hunting camp.
It has a 350 CI with 12,000 miles on the rebuilt engine (135,000 miles total). It was repainted in 1989 and has the original interior and it still looks great. It has also won many awards through out the years.
