To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the BMW M3, the German auto group will build a limited run of 500 special edition sedans. The 30 Jahre M3 will come with BMW’s Competition Package with 444 horsepower, Adaptive M suspension (special shocks, springs and stabilizers), Active M differential and special stability control settings. The 150 vehicles set to be sold in the US will also feature a suite of driver aids like blind spot monitoring, cameras and a speed limit warning.
But it is the design of the 30 Jahre M3 that makes it a collector’s item. In addition to the ///M badges spread through the interior to give the impression of a racetrack-branded car, the 30 Jahre M3 wields a set of retro-styled “throwing-star” wheels and an exclusive paint job. The Macao Blue color was first introduced as an option for the last version of the first generation Sport Evo BMW M3. Macao Blue is a dusky, smoky blue that sits in between navy and grey, and no doubt looks much better in person than in pictures.
The 30 Jahre model drives the line between the past and the future, and for those BMW fans who want to celebrate with one of the most loved automobile brands in the world, this is a rare opportunity to get in on history.
