Volunteers Needed for our Reopening!
There is no better time to become a volunteer at the Petersen than right now. We are poised to reopen in early December with a striking new façade, 25 new galleries, and hundreds of beautiful cars on display. We are seeking enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to help us engage with our visitors.
We are seeking women and men of all ages, backgrounds, and life experiences. No prior knowledge about automobiles is necessary, just a willingness to learn!
Successful volunteers are people who enjoy working with the public, including children, and who are reliable and committed.
Prospective volunteers will be required to participate in a phone and/or in-person interview and will undergo a background check before being accepted into our volunteer program. New volunteers must also go through an orientation and training process.
We have two types of volunteer opportunities that will be especially important when we reopen: Gallery Attendants and Discovery Center Assistants.
Gallery Attendants greet visitors, assist with wayfinding, answer questions, and provide general interpretive services to museum visitors when stationed on various floors of the museum of near the Admission Desk. At the same time, they are watchful of the activities around them to ensure the safety of individuals and the security of the objects and exhibits.
Discovery Center Assistants provide assistance and instruction to young visitors and their adult guardians as they interact with elements and exhibits in the Mechanical Institute Discovery Center, the hands-on gallery for kids.
