Introduced in 1966, the Lotus Europa offered consumers a car with an exotic mid-engine layout at a price far lower than that of other mid-engine cars. The small and nimble fiberglass-bodied car embodied the same high level of sophistication in its design and construction as the Elan that preceded it. An updated version of the original Europa, this S2 was the favorite car of local aficionado Robert Hollister, long-time director of collections and registration at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, who donated the lovingly maintained car shortly before his passing.
